Food for Life Classes
Food for Life is an award-winning nutrition education and cooking class program for an innovative approach to diet-related chronic diseases. Designed by physicians, nurses, and registered dietitians of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, Food for Life promotes healthful eating based on the latest scientific research. Each Food for Life class includes:
- Specific information about how certain foods and nutrients work to promote or discourage disease
- Cooking demonstrations of delicious and healthful recipes
- Practical cooking skills and tips for incorporating healthful eating habits into daily life
- A supportive and motivational atmosphere to empower participants to take charge of their health with the foods put on their plates
Includes Audio Visuals, demonstrations, food samples, and detailed recipes and resources.

Cooking to Combat COVID-19: Boosting Your Immune System
Designed to reach people who need it most to give them important nutrition information for optimal health during the pandemic. We know that people with lifestyle related underlying conditions are among the most vulnerable to the ravages of COVID-19. However, what is not being discussed is that plant-based diets are scientifically proven to prevent and even reverse many of those diseases. Through the online Food For Life classes people can get our lifesaving information right in the comfort of their homes.

Based on the Physicians Committee’s online 21-Day Vegan Kickstart program, discover that the guiding principle for weight loss and good health is not restricting the amount of food eaten but rather choosing the healthiest foods—fruits, vegetables, grains, and legumes. This course does not include live cooking demonstrations.

The Power of Food for a Healthy Start Kids Health

Plant Based 101 – 2 Hours
Introduction to whole, plant-based eating. Attendees Learn:
- My personal transition story

- Simple transitions
- Sample delicious whole, plant-based food and take home recipes for what they sampled.

Becoming Trimazing! – 0.5 Hours
I share my inspiring transition story from unhappy, achy, and overweight to an adult-onset athlete winning medals at triathlons! Includes:

Zero Waste Classes
Zero Waste 101 – 2.5 Hours
Teaches what’s going on with our garbage and why the sudden frequent increases in our garbage rates. Attendees learn:
- Current garbage and recycling issues
- Principles of Zero Waste
- Easy and practical things attendees can apply in their own home or business to reduce their waste, decrease garbage and recycling bin sizes, and save money
- Make a newspaper trash bin liner to take home
Includes Audio Visual presentation, demonstration, hands-on take-and-make, and detailed resources handout.
DIY Non-Toxic Cleaning Class – 2 Hours
Workshop about keeping a non-toxic, clean home that saves time and money! Attendees learn:
- Health and environmental concerns of chemicals in many commercial cleaning supplies
- Safer, non-toxic alternatives, including recipes for common household cleaners they can make themselves
- Waste-reducing and money-saving tips
- Make own dishwasher detergent to take home
Includes Audio Visual presentation, demonstration, hands-on take-and-make, and detailed recipe and resources handout.
Employee Wellness Programs
The Program Offers:
- Single course or weekly sessions of a 5- or 9-class series for workers, consisting of nutrition education, cooking demonstrations, food samples, and supportive group discussions
- Support for the employer’s food service provider to incorporate healthful food options into the menu
- Guidance on healthful dining out choices, if there is no employer food service provider
