About Cindy

I'm so excited to meet you!

Hello and welcome to Trimazing Health and Lifestyle Coaching! My name is Cindy Thompson and I am thrilled you are here checking things out—and you probably want to know a little bit more about me.

I am a Board-Certified Health Coach through the National Board of Health and Wellness Coaches; ACE Fitness Nutrition and Behavior Change Specialist; Fit2Thrive Firefighter Peer Fitness Trainer; Wellness Forum Institute Certified Health Educator; Main Street Vegan Master Vegan Lifestyle Coach & Educator; licensed Food for Life Instructor for the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine; Harvard Medical School Culinary Coach; Rouxbe Culinary School Plant-Based Professional; licensed paramedic; 5 Gyres Ambassador; and hold a Master’s degree in Leadership, with focused study on servant leadership and coaching.

I live in the beautiful Snoqualmie Valley, just East of Seattle, Washington, where I enjoy all the beauty and bounty this region has to offer! When I am not busy coaching, teaching classes, or working with clients, you can find me gardening, cycling, open water swimming, hiking, traveling, volunteering in my community, or spending time with our large family.

I started health and wellness coaching during my 20-year firefighting career, leading the Wellness/Fitness program at my fire department as part of the Joint International Association of Firefighters and International Association of Fire Chiefs Wellness Fitness Initiative until I retired in 2014.

But I wasn't always healthy...

My journey into a healthy me started in 2009. I was struggling with being overweight and was really unhealthy—and I was scared that I was going to die of cancer. You see, my dad and his mom had both died of blood cancers and the state where I worked had enacted a law adding 12 types of cancer to occupational disease presumptions for firefighters, including the blood cancers my relatives had, meaning being a firefighter exposed us to substances that could cause cancer.

I couldn’t change my genetics and I didn’t want to stop being a firefighter. So I researched cancer risk reduction and found study after study pointing toward decreased incidence of all types of cancer with significant reduction or elimination of the consumption of animal protein. But more than that, a whole foods, plant-based diet was also found to reduce, even reverse Type II (adult onset) diabetes, and the cardiovascular benefits were extremely compelling too.

I decided to try it. Without going on a diet and just putting better fuel (nutrition) into my body, that year I dropped 60 pounds, 7 uniform pants sizes, 3 uniform shirt sizes, and dropped my cholesterol and blood pressure readings. Beyond looking better, my fitness level soared, and gave me new energy I could not contain and I became an adult onset athlete!

The Origin of Trimazing!

: three times better than amazing

In the middle of the night in 2011, working on rebranding my triathlon blog, I reflected on how going vegan had changed my life. With my weight loss and newfound energy, I’d become an adult-onset athlete, completing marathons, triathlons, and endurance races, and it was so amazing! I toyed with the phrase, “triathlon is amazing,” which morphed into “tri-amazing” and finally “trimazing.” An internet search revealed the word’s meaning in the Urban Dictionary as slang for three times better than amazing, and I instantly knew it was perfect! Trimazing! was born.

To be Trimazing! is to be three times better than amazing. It is the trifecta of doing amazing things for your health, animals, and the planet. This is what drives me, sharing plant-based food, vegan lifestyle, zero waste, health, and fitness, so you can have a life that is truly…Trimazing!

I am honored to be your partner in health and want to share my experience, skills, and knowledge to help others achieve their best selves. I’m excited to share my story and experiences with others to help them succeed and be inspired myself by their success.
