Smart Cooking to Boost Your Immune System – Online
With all of the scary headlines today, there may be no better time to consider switching to a diet that can help boost your immune system and lower your risk of chronic diseases that make people more susceptible to the ravages of COVID-19.
Instructors Nancy Travis and health coach Cindy Thompson will explain the science behind low-fat, plant-based diets, and they’ll share recipes and techniques for creating delicious, healthful meals. Plant-based foods are naturally low in fat and chock-full of fiber, and they are filled with immune-boosting antioxidants and phytochemicals. That’s why these foods can prevent and sometimes even reverse diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and other chronic diseases — all risk factors for developing serious complications from COVID-19.
The classes in this series use materials developed by Food for Life, an award-winning nutrition education and cooking program created by a team of physicians, nurses and dietitians for the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. The instructors have both been certified to teach Food for Life classes.
