Trimazing is a place for healthy whole-food and plant-based recipes built by someone who has lived the change herself. Behind every dish here is Cindy Thompson, a retired fire captain, licensed paramedic, and Board-Certified Health Coach who rebuilt her own health from the ground up and now shares what she learned.
This isn’t a page written by a large anonymous team but a small helping hands. It’s a personal introduction from Cindy, the woman who tests every recipe in her own kitchen, checks the nutrition numbers, and writes every word on this site.
Trimazing combines real nutrition research, whole-food plant-based cooking, and recipes that fit an ordinary week, not a chef’s schedule.
Curious who’s behind these recipes and why we care so much about getting them right? Keep reading. This is Cindy’s story, and it’s also the story of how Trimazing came to be.
Meet Cindy Thompson
Hello, and welcome. I’m Cindy Thompson, the founder of Trimazing.
Before I ever wrote a recipe, I spent 20 years as a firefighter, working my way up to fire captain, and I’m also a licensed paramedic.
Those years taught me a lot about staying steady under pressure, and they also taught me firsthand how much our daily habits affect our long-term health.
My most relevant credentials today include:
- Board-Certified Health Coach, National Board of Health and Wellness Coaches
- ACE Fitness Nutrition and Behavior Change Specialist
- Licensed Food for Life Instructor, Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine
- Harvard Medical School Culinary Coach
I’ve earned other certifications along the way, but these are the ones that shape my work with clients and the recipes I share here most directly. What matters most to me isn’t the list of letters after my name. It’s that I’ve used every bit of that training on myself first, and it worked.
Cindy’s Path to Better Healthy Lifestyle
I wasn’t always the person you see cooking in this kitchen today.
How It Started
My path to a healthier life started in 2009. I was overweight, struggling, and genuinely afraid I might die of cancer.
My father and his mother had both died of blood cancers, and the state where I worked as a firefighter had just added those same cancers to the list of diseases presumed to be caused by the job.
I couldn’t change my genetics, and I wasn’t willing to give up firefighting, so I started researching what I could change instead. Study after study linked reducing or eliminating animal protein to a lower risk of nearly every type of cancer.
The research on whole-food, plant-based eating went further, showing it could reduce, and sometimes reverse, type 2 diabetes, along with real benefits for heart health.
Making the Change
I decided to try it, not as a diet, but simply by changing the fuel I put into my body. That first year, I lost 60 pounds and dropped seven pants sizes and three uniform shirt sizes, and my cholesterol and blood pressure both came down.
Beyond how I looked, my energy changed completely.
I had more fuel in the tank than I knew what to do with, so I started running, then racing, and eventually became an adult-onset athlete, completing marathons, triathlons, and endurance events I never would have attempted before.
That change in my own health and energy is what led me to start coaching others, and eventually, to start Trimazing.
The Story Behind Trimazing
The name Trimazing has a story of its own.
Back in 2011, I was working late one night on rebranding my old triathlon blog. I kept thinking about how much going plant-based had changed my life, how it had turned me into someone who trained for and finished triathlons.
I started playing with the phrase “triathlon is amazing,” which turned into “tri-maz-ing,” and then simply “trimazing.” When I looked the word up, I found it defined online as slang for something three times better than amazing. It fit perfectly, so Trimazing was born.
To me, being Trimazing means being three times better than amazing: doing right by your own health, by animals, and by the planet, all at once. That trifecta still drives everything I share here, from the ingredients I choose to the way I write each recipe.
How We Create and Review Every Recipe
Every recipe here goes through three checkpoints before it reaches your kitchen.
Recipe Development and Testing
Every recipe on this site gets made more than once in my own kitchen before it’s ever published. We cook it as planned, take notes on what worked and what didn’t, and adjust from there. Maybe a sauce needs a few more minutes to thicken, or a spice needs a lighter hand.
We repeat that process until the result holds up consistently, checking ingredient amounts, confirming cook times, and making sure the steps are clear enough for someone cooking a dish for the very first time.
That back and forth is what catches the small problems before they ever reach your kitchen.
Nutrition and Research
Because I care about health as much as flavor, I include nutritional information with most recipes to help you plan meals that fit your goals.
Those numbers come from trusted nutrition databases and standard ingredient references, calculated using the specific ingredients and amounts in each recipe.
I also draw on what I’ve learned through my nutrition and health coaching training, along with ongoing research in whole-food, plant-based eating, to shape the advice I share.
That said, nutritional values are always estimates. Your results can vary depending on the brands you use, how you prepare a dish, and any swaps you make. Use these numbers as a helpful guide rather than an exact measurement.
Editorial Process
I research each topic carefully, write in plain language, and check every fact before it goes live on the site.
Older posts don’t just sit untouched either. I go back regularly to update outdated information, clarify instructions, and add tips I’ve picked up since the original post was published. Reader feedback plays a real role here.
When someone tells me a step was confusing or a measurement seemed off, I look into it and make changes when they’re needed. Your input genuinely helps keep this site accurate and useful.

Our Mission and Values
Evidence-based nutrition and practical cooking sit at the center of everything I publish. I lean on research, established science, and my own training rather than passing trends, and a recipe only helps you if it actually works in your kitchen, on a weeknight, with ingredients you can find.
Transparency guides how I write. If a recipe has limits, or if nutrition estimates might vary, I tell you upfront rather than leaving that out. Health-conscious living and sustainability run through every post too, because what’s good for your body is often good for the planet as well.
I stay committed to honest recommendations and to fixing what needs fixing. If something no longer holds up, I update it, so the site keeps improving as I learn more.
