DIY Non-Toxic Cleaning Class – 2 Hours

Workshop about keeping a non-toxic, clean home that saves time and money! Attendees learn:

  • Health and environmental concerns of chemicals in many commercial cleaning supplies
  • Safer, non-toxic alternatives, including recipes for common household cleaners they can make themselves
  • Waste-reducing and money-saving tips
  • Make own dishwasher detergent to take home

Zero Waste 101 – 2.5 Hours

Teaches what’s going on with our garbage and why the sudden frequent increases in our garbage rates. Attendees learn:

  • Current garbage and recycling issues
  • Principles of Zero Waste
  • Easy and practical things attendees can apply in their own home or business to reduce their waste, decrease garbage and recycling bin sizes, and save money
  • Make a newspaper trash bin liner to take home

Plant Based 101 – 1.5 Hours

Introduction to whole, plant-based eating. Attendees Learn:

  • My personal transition story
  • Why eat plant-based
  • Simple transitions
  • Sample delicious whole, plant-based food and take home recipes for what they sampled.

Becoming Trimazing! – 0.5 Hours

I share my inspiring transition story from unhappy, achy, and overweight to an adult-onset athlete winning medals at triathlons! Includes:

  • My personal transition story

Cindy Thompson started health and wellness coaching during her 20-year firefighting career, leading the Wellness/Fitness program at her fire department as part of the Joint International Association of Firefighters and International Association of Fire Chiefs Wellness Fitness Initiative until retiring in 2014. She was a decorated Fire Captain and paramedic, awarded Firefighter of the Year and Oregon State Paramedic of the Year. As part of the prestigious Executive Fire Officer Program at the U.S. Fire Academy, Cindy published original research on residential fire statistics and firefighter health and safety.

After losing two family members to blood cancer and legislation designating certain cancers as presumptive illnesses for professional firefighters, Cindy embarked on research to reduce her personal cancer risk. She discovered that a whole foods, plant-based vegan diet that eliminated the consumption of animal products could be key to her health and cancer prevention. Without going on a diet and just putting better fuel (nutrition) into her body, Cindy dropped 60 pounds, 7 uniform pants sizes, 3 uniform shirt sizes, and dropped her cholesterol and blood pressure readings in one year. Beyond looking better, her fitness level soared, and gave her new energy she could not contain. At the age of 38, Cindy became an adult onset athlete, competing and medaling in marathons, triathlons, open water swim races, and endurance events!

After retiring from the fire service, Cindy started Trimazing! Health and Lifestyle Coaching, where she provides coaching for healthy lifestyles, including whole, plant-based food, wellness and fitness practices, zero waste, and organic gardening. She is a certified Health Coach through the American College of Exercise (ACE) and WellStart Health; ACE Fitness Nutrition Specialist and Peer Fitness Trainer; Main Street Vegan Academy Vegan Lifestyle Coach and Educator; Rouxbe Culinary School Plant-Based Professional; Member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine; Soil and Water Steward for Tilth Alliance; and 5 Gyres Ambassador. She holds a Master’s Degree in Leadership, specializing in Servant Leadership and coaching.
